Product Description After the Cylon attack on the Colonies, the battered remnants of the human race are on the run, constantly searching for the next signpost on the road to Earth. They face the threat of Cylon attack from without, and treachery and crisis from within. Humanity must work together if they are to have any hope of survival. But how can they, when any of them may, in fact, be a Cylon agent? Battlestar Galactica: The Board Game is an exciting game of mistrust, intrigue, and the struggle for survival. Based on the epic and acclaimed Sci-Fi Channel series, the game puts players in the role of one of ten of their favorite characters from the show. Each playable character has abilities and weaknesses, and must work with others in order for humanity to have any hope of survival. However, one or more players in every game secretly side with the Cylons! Players must attempt to expose the traitor while fuel shortages, food contaminations, and political unrest threatens to tear the fleet apart. The game includes 10 character cards, 32 highly-detailed plastic ships, high-quality card board tokens, hundreds of cards and a game board with resource counters.

A fun role playing game July 20, 2010 A. Loosley This game is intense. It's worth the investment, especially if you're a fan of Battlestar Galactica. Just don't let your friends fold the cards.
Unlike other reviewers, I have no problem with a lot of the game pieces being cardboard.
I'd give it 6 stars if I could :) June 16, 2010 K. Thurman This game is awesome, but it definitely requires the Pegasus Expansion for extra drama. I love the show to pieces, and if you haven't seen it, I recommend trying to watch it first - otherwise the board game might spoil you for the first two seasons - but as long as you enjoy board games, you don't have to love the show to love this game (I promise, I have played with many a non-fan).
Do you like fun? Then you will love this game May 6, 2010 Kyle Jennings Where to begin? First, if you haven't seen the show, how dare you? BSG was repeatedly snubbed at the emmys for a being a Sci-Fi original, because apparently they had better shows to nominate like CSI: Disneyland or whatever inane spinoff they had. So first go watch the show, seriously, I'll wait.
Back? Ok, now that you've seen the best TV show in the past 10 years you will appreciate this game so much more, and even if you still have not seen it, you will still enjoy playing. Seriously, I have played mulitiple times with people who have never even seen one episode and they get a kick out of this game almost every time.
"Almost" every time you say? Unfortunately, this game is seriously unbalanced in a 4 or 6 player game. It is at its best with 3 or 5 players. Why? Because depending on the human resource dials on the gameboard and where they are pointing at the mid-game point, there will be either 2 cylons vs 2 humans or 1 cylon vs 3 humans (for a 4 player game); 3 cylons vs 3 humans or 2 cylons vs 4 humans in a 6 player game. With half the players as cylons, the humans are severely outmatched, and with more humans they can walk all over the cylon player(s). This mechanic is negated in a 3 or 5 player game, in which there is a set number of cylon players by the mid-game point.
The best part of this game is definitely the deceptive nature of how players manipulate other players. If you're a cylon in disguise your best bet is to sow distrust amongst the other human players and if possible get them to accuse each other of betrayal and send each other to prison while you subtlely ruin their chances of progressing and attacking their resources. If you are a human player, you are constantly suspicious of other players, which makes for some interesting choices as you will sometimes make reckless decisions to imprison a suspected cylon or speed up the game in order to keep the cylons from having more turns to mess you up.
Basically this game presents a ticking clock for players. When the clock reaches zero, the choices they have made will culminate into victory or loss. But what you do, if you're human or cylon, from start to finish is almost always satisfying because most playthroughs are won or lost by the skin of your teeth, creating a enjoyably tense atmosphere. You must at least TRY this game, and you must BUY it if you're a fan of the show.
best game ever! May 6, 2010 M. Weddle (Oklahoma) This game is so much fun! My friend come over every weekend to play! It is a role playing game where you are either a cylon or a human. We have found that it is very hard for the human players to win so we always give the humans extra resources. (add 2 to each resource) It took us SEVERAL hours to get through the rule book but it was so worth it. We have a few friends who are very into BSG and we all play for hours. I have never been into role playing games but this one is so much fun especially if you've seen the show. (if you haven't you really need to because it is really very good) It is very true to the show too. I have only a few complaints and that is that it takes a very long time to learn the rules unless you have someone to teach you how to play and the cylons have the obvious advantage. It seems like once the cylons are revealed the game ends quickly after. I think out of the many many times we've played the humans have won once. I think the game board is very nice and all the pieces are nice. I LOVE this game and I am SO glad I bought it!
Great Boardgame for 4-6 ppl April 12, 2010 Josh M. Levin (Philadelphia, PA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
There is a game called "werewolves," or, alternately, "mafia" - the way it works, one person is secretly a killer, and chooses someone to die every night, and the other non-mafia/wolf players need to figure out who the killer is, and then kill them.
This board game is very similar to that mechanic (one to two ppl are hidden cylons) BUT - unlike werewolves / mafia, wherein a person who was killed may have to sit out the WHOLE rest of the game, in this game no one dies. Even if you are an outed Cylon, you still have a part to play in the game.
So, having said that, this game is excellent. All the players interact with each other to stave off crises that effect the ship. Everyone, face down, throws down cards which effect the crisis. The cylons will throw down cards that hurt, but you don't know who threw what card (plus two cards are randomly mixed in), so you do not know who the cylons are.
Example of play:
My turn: the galactica ship has taken heavy damage from a cylon basestar (4/6 - @ 6 game over) - including the warp drive, therefore we cannot jump away from the ships attacking us, and I, as Admiral Adama, cannot repair the warp myself. ON my action turn I use a card that gives another play a free move and action interrupt that takes place instead of my action. I give this power to the engineer, who moves to the warp drive, and repairs it - the card he uses to repair it grants him another action, which he uses to engage the now repaired warp drive (known as FTL [faster than light] in this game), and he gets our badly damaged butts out of there. It was highly dramatic, and we all crowed with success when we did it.
NOW - imagine that the engineer player was secretly a cylon - and took that extra action I gave him to declare he was a cylon, and to hurt the team?
Thats the dynamic at play. You work with your teammates and try to save the ship, and to get home, but you do not know who is a cylon or not.
Fantastic, fantastic game. I cannot wait to play again. Best with 4-6 ppl, games take anywhere from 1-3 hours (usually in the middle.).
Thumbs up.
