My son & wife played this game thousands of time. They moved and the game
got lost. He mentioned it to me that if I ever saw it while shopping to pick it
up.
His birthday was coming up and with no ideas, I thought of Amazon and Balderdash.
The service was great.
Son was really surprised.

Without any flashy rules, game pieces, or pictures, Balderdash still manages to be one of the best board games I've played. Players get creative (and tricky) in answering obscure prompts, and the bluff that convinces the most voters wins. The game says it's for two or more players, but I definitely suggest having at least four players, the more the better to get plenty of variety of answers. Other than that, the fun you can get out of this game is only limited by your and your friends' imaginations, and the prompts in the game do a good job at inspiring some hilarious answers. I've had a great time getting to know just how original and wacky my friends can be by playing this game. If this review were only about the game itself, I would definitely give it five stars. However, my one problem with this product is the excessive packaging that the manufacturer has slapped onto it. The big box is designed to look like it can hold much more than the slim game board, few playing pieces, and deck of cards that it actually comes with, and most of the space in the box is just full of air. You can almost picture the marketing discussion with guys in suits saying something like "Great game, but we could sell it for a much higher price if the box looked like it were big enough to hold the board, sketch pads, pencils, timers, game pieces, playing dough, etc. of Cranium." So in summary, they've killed a few extra trees to get you to pay $25 for some excessive cardboard, but the game itself is fantastic, so go ahead and buy it when there's a (hefty) discount!

We played this game with a group of 10 people. Men and women all in their fifties. It was a blast ! To help remember the answers when voting,they were numbered from one to ten at random and all of the people had scratch pads so they could jot down something about each answer. That way the dasher just had to pull out the card with that number when going around to each player and asking them for their selection. It was a lot easier and faster to record by number than people saying "the one about the monkey, or the one about the old man" and trying to find it. Funniest answer for the evening was what do the initials I. H. S. stand for ? The correct answer was International Hibernation Society but she put down Inner Hole Space. We all had a good laugh for that one.

Balderdash is simply the best party game there is. It is extremely flexible in that it allows for fun gameplay with many different numbers of players and ages of players, and it is also a game where experience won't necessarily give you an advantage. The point is to come up with bogus definitions to a difficult vocabulary word no one will know, and to get other players to vote for your fake definition. The game is somewhat educational -- you're bound to pick up a few words from playing it that you can show off, and has great replay value -- even though there's a finite number of cards, trying to remember the real definitions is impossible! Hilarity always ensues when we play this game; you invariably wind up with some really out-there stuff as people try to make up definitions under limited time, and there are always a few submissions that have us rolling on the floor. Of course, sometimes the real definition is the weirdest of them all! Balderdash is the perfect game for any party -- people learn quickly, get really into it, and you can play for as many or as few rounds as you'd like... though our games usually go on for quite some time! This game is addictive, but in a good way. No party game collection is complete without a copy of Balderdash!
