| Customer Reviews: Portable Pastime May 19, 2010 D. Freeman (Williston, VT United States) We were heading to Tulum to unplug for a week with our 8 and 11 year old children. We needed enough board games to keep us occupied for 21 meals, plus afternoon beach time. This was a trip where electronics were being banned. Among the many games and books I purchased was an old standby -- Sorry! but in the travel sized version for just $9.00. I had no idea what a winner it would be. It is durable, compact and convenient. It is well designed. The game folds up into itself , keeping the pieces in a center console where the spinner is (this has replaced the cards). Two big bonuses: (1) that you can play this game on the beach in a windy location as game pieces that are movable fit into pre-drilled holes plus there are no cards to blow away, just an attached spinner that moves the game along and (2) each person only has two "mover" pieces, not four, to get around the board making this a shortened version of the at-home game.
Travel Game - Sorry February 6, 2010 Stephanie Cogan-levy (st. louis, mo) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
My boys love the original game - I thought the travel one would provide a lot of fun while on vacation. It's definitely not the same as the original, but it is still fun. It was great in the airport & in the hotel - wouldn't bring it to the beach as the pieces are very small and can easily be lost.
Super game, comes with us everywhere January 18, 2010 San Francisco Citizen (San Francisco, CA, USA) My 4YO daughter and I have a great time playing this game. We have the "original" Sorry for playing at home, and she loves it, but as other reviewers mentioned, this is almost like "Speed Sorry," because you have only 2 pieces. For little ones (like my 4YO) this is great--the game moves fast, and you don't have 4 players trying to get out of start.
I also love that they removed the cards--there's a spinning wheel. The only pieces that might get lost are the tiny people, which stay in their "spots" extremely well.
The locking feature to the game is also a super feature; I can throw the entire kit in my handbag and off we go -- to a cafe, Starbucks, the park, everywhere. We're going to wait in line for a new release movie next weekend and this is surely coming--it will be a great way to pass the 30-40 minutes before the theater opens.
great fun for the kids and me June 30, 2009 Nina A. Jiron 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I have been looking at this game and finally decided to get it. I am so glad I did! We have played it several times since getting it three days ago. It will be great for traveling...even if only here and there around town.
We have only played it at home so far.
Plus side: pieces stay firmly in board, can be quick or long depending on how often you take advantage of sending each other home.
Minus: Sometimes my children put the pieces in too firmly and have to tug a bit to get them out...(still okay in my view).
And spinner works better if holding it up instead of sitting it on a surface...if on a surface it seems to get a bit bound up and does not want to spin as freely. If you hold it in your hand at the corners the spinner moves much more freely.
All in all this is a great game and I would indeed recommend it to anyone who is debating the purchase.
Nice compact version of Sorry that's perfect for younger children December 21, 2007 Beth Cholette (Upstate NY USA) 17 out of 17 found this review helpful
I recently played this game with my two nieces, ages 5 and 3. Because this is a travel-sized game, it's simplified in that there are only two colored pieces, or "movers," for each player. Therefore, both girls were able to easily follow along with the game (although admittedly, the 3-year old did lose interest before the end of the game). The game board is nicely designed so that it folds into itself, creating a compact carry case. The game also features a spinner rather than dice, and the only loose pieces, the movers, tuck away nicely into individual cubbies when the game is closed up. I would mainly recommend this game for the 4-8 range, but its small size makes it convenient take-along entertainment for virtually all ages.
